Google Docs

Google Docs is a free, web-based application that lets you create, share, and manage documents.  You can control who sees your documents and whether or not they can make changes.  Many of the editing features in Google Docs resemble Microsoft Office, so you won't have as steep a learning curve as you might imagine.

Go to Google Docs and sign in with your Google account (same one you used for Blogger).  Click the orange create button and choose one of the following types of documents to create for this week's exercise:
After you have created your file, post a comment below describing your experience (What kind of file did you create?  Did you share it with others, or keep it private?)

I re-created a file that I already had. I recieved the file from another pre-k/kindergarten teacher across the U.S. from collaborating through the blog! I have not shared it with others yet. However it was shared with me. When I went to download and save it immediately opened Google Docs.

I really like google docs. I have about 5 pages of things saved to my Docs account. I will now be organizing them thanks to Mrs. Whitt showing us how to create folders!

I've been using Google Docs for a few years, but haven't used it as much as I should. I created a form on Google Docs that is embedded on my Book Almanac blog. The form allows others (students mainly, but thanks Lisa for your excellent contributions too!) to submit book reviews. The Google form puts all the data in a spreadsheet and sends me an email to let me know someone has added something. I love it!

I created a googledoc using my letter of interest for the Blue Ribbon process. It was very easy to do. I plan to use googledoc in the future for sending items to teachers such as agendas, surveys, etc.

I just created a Google Doc with Mrs. Campbell's help. I have also given her permission to view/comment on the contents of this doc.

I am proud to say that I love the convenience of cloud computing. I have Dropbox on my iPad and on my PC. I have taken videos from the iPad and placed them in my Dropox. Then I email a link for the video. It works like a charm.
I have used Google Docs to get input from 5th graders here at WGS. I used the forms style to take a survey about their favorite apps.

This is marvelous! Not only am I in the clouds but so is all of my stuff now. This is so good for me because I now have all of my files synced on my iphone. I have all of my documents with me no matter where I am. This will be very helpful to access my files whenever I am away from school or home. I like the benefit of using Google Docs to create quick and easy surveys. Technology Rocks!

I created a document and shared it with everyone. It is a document that I hope teachers will use this summer to check resources out to sharpen their skills over the summer. It was very easy to use. Ok, ok, I've done this before but it had been a while. :)
